Pineapple Motif Hot Pads

Raindrop Hot Pad
Worsted Weight yarn and an H sized hook. These measure approximately 5" x 8".
For a 'working hot pad,' you will need to make two of these and crochet them together with some sort of lining in the middle. My grandmother used layers of old sheets, old rags, or old towels to line her hot pads.

INSTRUCTIONS:
Ch 4. Place your thumb over these sts.  Ch 4, Sl St in 4th ch from hk (Picot Loop completed).  Ch 7, TURN.
Row 1: Dc in 3rd Ch from hk. Work 9 Dc into 4Ch Picot Loop. Work 2 Dc into last Ch. Turn.
Row 2: Sl St in between 2 Dc. Ch 3, Dc in same sp.  Sk 1 Dc.  (Ch 1, Dc in next st) 7 times.  Ch 1, Work 2 Dc in between last 2 Dc of row. Turn.
Row 3: Sl St in between 2 Dc. (Ch 2, 1 Dc in same sp. Ch 1 Cluster St in same sp.) Ch 2, Sk 1st Ch1 Sp & 1st Dc.  (Sc in next Ch1 Sp, Ch 3) 5 times. Sc in next Ch1 Sp, Ch 2, Work (Cluster St, Ch 1, Cluster St) in between last 2 Dc. Turn.
Row 4: Sl St into Ch1 Sp. (Ch 2, 1 Dc in same sp. Ch 1 Cluster St in same sp.) Ch 2, (Work Puff st in Ch3 Loop, Ch 2) 5 Times. Ch 2, Work (Cluster St, Ch 1, Cluster St) in Ch1 Sp- between last 2 Cluster Sts. Turn.
Row 5: Sl St into Ch1 Sp. (Ch 2, 1 Dc in same sp. Ch 1 Cluster St in same sp.) Ch 2, Sk Ch2 Sp  (Sc in next Ch1 Sp, Ch 3) 4 times. Sc in next Ch1 Sp, Ch 2, Work (Cluster St, Ch 1, Cluster St) in Ch1 Sp- between last 2 Cluster Sts. Turn.

Row 15: Sl St into Ch1 Sp. Ch 2, Work 4Dc Cluster st across the top of the Egg. {Yo, insert hook in same st, Yo pull through, Yo pull through 2 lps.  Yo, insert hook in center Dc, Yo pull through, Yo pull through 2 lps. (Yo, insert hook in between Cluster Sts of previous row, Yo pull through, Yo pull through 2 lps.) 2 times. Yo, and pull through all sts.} End off and weave threads.

Easter Egg Hot Pad
Use the same instructions for the Easter Egg Hotpad, but substitute a Puff Stitch for the 3Dc Cluster stitches.
