Ch 1 connect to base of beg ch.
Round 3: Sl st into top of Beg ch of previous round. Ch 2. Hdc into next st.  2 Hdc into next 5 sts.  1 Hdc into next 7 sts.  3 Hdc into Trc at point of heart. 1 Hdc into next 7 st. 2 Hdc into next 5 sts.  Ch 1, connect to base of beg ch.  End off.

After you've completed 3 hearts, crochet them together.
I put two of them with right sides together and started with the 12th Hdc (right after the 2Hdc in 1 st.).  Using the back loop only, single crochet in each stitch making certain to pass through both hearts.
When you get to the tip, pick up the 3rd heart, and Sc into the tip Trc of all 3 hearts.  Now, open up the 3 hearts, switch to the new heart by matching the right sides of the previous and this new heart together.  Continue to Sc into each back loop, making certain to pass through both hearts.  End off and weave all threads.

You can make 2 of these and crochet them together for a thicker hot pad.

Stem:
Attach thread at the bottom of the Shamrock.  Ch 10.  Hdc in 2nd ch from hk.  1 Hdc in next 3 chs.  2 Hdc in next ch.  1 Hdc in remaining chs.  Connect to hot pad.  End off and weave threads.
